What is Design Thinking? What is different about Design thinking? Purpose of Design Thinking. Principles of Design Thinking, The Approach of Design Thinking, The process of DT. Design Thinking Skills.

Empathizing Techniques – observation – experience – interaction; structured open-ended approach. Generating insights. Mind map and Empathy map, User profiling and Customer Journey Mapping. Overcoming cognitive fixedness – Exercises and case-based discussions

Unit 3:

Analysing and Defining techniques – The analysis and defining techniques - 5Whys, root cause analysis, conflict of interest, ENV, etc. combining ideas into complex innovation concepts.

Unit 4:

Ideating - Creativity and Critical thinking; Divergence and Convergence; TRIZ approach, etc. Conceptualization - Visual thinking, Drawing/sketching, new concept generation. Prototyping - Prototyping techniques and technologies, Prototype using simple things, models, 3D printing;

Unit 5:

Experimenting, Testing and Implementing – preliminary testing, improvements, co-creation, etc. Improvisation and storytelling. Evaluation tools and exercises.
